Small game emphasis area season hunting dates for the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) are incorrect in the 2023-24 Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Hunting & WMA Regulations pamphlet.
The correct language should read, “On that portion designated as Small Game Emphasis Area, beagles are allowed for rabbit and dogs are allowed for squirrel Oct. 7-31 and Nov. 27- Dec. 8, and training of beagles for rabbit and dogs for squirrel allowed June 1- Aug. 31.”
The correct dates will be updated on the electronic versions on the LDWF website (https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/seasons-and-regulations).
Richard K. Yancey WMA is located approximately 35 miles south of Ferriday on Louisiana Highway 15 in lower Concordia Parish.
