Boggy Bayou Campground, located adjacent to Boggy Bayou Boat Landing on Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area (WMA), will reopen Friday (Sept. 30) following renovation work and upgrades, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced.

Upgraded amenities include 20 limestone campsites with hookup pedestals, 50-amp, 30-amp and 20-amp GFCI receptacles along with water hookups located on each pedestal.

There are a limited number of campsites so campers should not purchase the required WMA camping permit until arriving to make sure a spot is available. Camping permits are only available online at https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/hunting-licenses-permits-tags or at a local vendor.

All persons using this campground must possess a WMA access permit and a WMA self-clearing permit. WMA camping permits are required and the fee is $7 per day for parties of one to five individuals. Youths 17 years and under are exempt from this requirement. Each camping permit or camping permit number must be posted at campsite. This will be effective beginning Friday (Sept. 30).

For more information on WMA camping, access and self-clearing permits go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/wmas-refuges-and-conservation-areas.

Spring Bayou WMA is located approximately five miles east of Marksville off Spring Bayou Road in Avoyelles Parish.
