With teal season set to begin Sept. 12, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is reminding waterfowl hunters that new motor restrictions are in effect on Biloxi Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

As approved by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission in April, the WMA rules relative to watercraft allowed on Biloxi WMA now state: Mud boats or air-cooled propulsion vessels can only be powered by straight shaft “long-tail” air-cooled, mud motors that are 25 total horsepower or less.  All other types of mud boats or air-cooled propulsion vessels, including “surface-drive” boats are prohibited.

Biloxi WMA is located in upper St. Bernard Parish, approximately 40 miles east of New Orleans, and includes 42,747 acres. For more information on Biloxi WMA, go to http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/32647 or contact Shane Granier at 504-284-5269 or sgranier@wlf.la.gov .
