A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agent arrested a Webster Parish man on March 6 for alleged illegal drug possession violations in Webster Parish.
Sgt. Jared McIver arrested John E. Day, 42, Minden, for improper lane use, driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving with cancelled license plate, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of prescription pills and illegal possession of Tramodol pills. Sgt. McIver booked Day into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
Sgt. McIver initiated a traffic stop on Hwy. 164 in Webster Parish for improper lane use. During the stop Sgt. McIver discovered that John was driving with a suspended license and cancelled license plate.
Sgt. McIver also found John to be in illegal possession of prescription pills. John also possessed drug paraphernalia such as a straw and pill crusher used to snort pills. Inside the vehicle Sgt. McIver found Tramodol pills and more pill crushers.
Illegal possession of the prescription pills each brings up to a $5,000 fine and five years in jail. Illegal possession of Tramodol pills carries up to a $25,000 fine and five years in jail. Possession of drug paraphernalia brings up to a $500 fine and six months in jail. Operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license carries up to a $500 fine and six months in jail. Operating a vehicle with a cancelled license plate brings up to a $100 fine and 30 days in jail. The fine and jail time for improper lane use is set by the parish.
