Description
A small snake- 8 to 12 inches long. Brown above, pink below and on the first to second scale row. Tiny eyes. Smooth scales and in 13 rows. Small, harmless spine on the tip of the tail.
Range and Habitat
Found in wooded portions of the Florida Parishes. Favors closed-canopy hardwood or mixed pine-hardwood forests
Behavior
Burrows in loose soil and leaf litter in deciduous forest, occasionally concealing themselves beneath logs. Lay 2 to 6 eggs.
Population Status
Populations are considered stable within the state.
