The body of Tyreke Harbor, 24, of Jonesville, was recovered by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office from the Little River. His body was turned over to the Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office.
Agents were notified around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 about a boating incident involving a personal watercraft on the Little River near the Trinity Boat Launch.
According to the operator of the personal watercraft, Harbor was seated on the back of the watercraft when he fell into the water, pulling the operator into the water with him. The operator said Harbor was struggling to swim and went under without resurfacing.
The LDWF Enforcement Division will be the leading investigative agency for this fatal boating incident. Neither Harbor nor the operator were wearing personal flotation devices. Regulations state that anyone on a personal watercraft must wear a personal flotation device at all times.
