The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) applauds President Donald Trump for issuing an Executive Order establishing the Make America Beautiful Again Commission, a bold and welcome commitment to the restoration, conservation, and accessibility of America’s public lands, waters, and outdoor heritage.

The President’s order emphasizes expanding access to public lands, restoring fish and wildlife populations through voluntary, collaborative efforts, and cutting bureaucratic restrictions—priorities that closely align with LDWF’s longstanding goals and recent advocacy.

“We are grateful for the President’s leadership in placing conservation and outdoor access back at the center of our national agenda,” said LDWF Secretary Tyler Bosworth. “This Executive Order affirms the critical role state partners play and recognizes the need to restore access and promote recreational opportunities and responsible stewardship across our nation’s public lands.”

LDWF has consistently emphasized the importance of local partnerships in managing federal lands. On October 31, 2024, LDWF submitted a formal letter to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Regional Director Michael Oetker, requesting expanded alligator hunting opportunities and improved staffing levels on Louisiana’s National Wildlife Refuges. Secretary Bosworth personally traveled to Washington, D.C. on May 13, 2025, where he shared LDWF’s concerns and proposals in meetings with USFWS Deputy Director Dave Miko and Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary Karen Budd Falen.

In the letter, LDWF emphasized its willingness to collaborate on shared solutions, including:

“These efforts exemplify the kind of state and federal collaboration that the Make America Beautiful Again Commission seeks to strengthen,” added Secretary Bosworth. “We look forward to being an active partner in implementing the President’s vision.”
