Cadet Qualifications
Before You Apply
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer commissioned with the power of arrest
- An associate’s degree from a technical college or completion of a two-year program at a vocational or technical school ; OR
- Three (3) years of continuous active military service (all Military Occupational Specialties apply).
- Experience Substitution:
- Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Necessary Special Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

- This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), walk long distances, work in harsh weather conditions.
