LDWF Agents Arrest Denham Springs Woman for Amite River Boating Incident

Baton Rouge, Aug 11, 2026 - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents arrested a Denham Springs woman on Aug. 10 for alleged boating violations.

Agents arrested Nanette Normand, 63, for careless operation of a vessel, four counts of negligent injuring, and failing to file official operators report. Agents booked Normand into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

The charges stem from the investigation into a three vessel collision, which occurred on the Amite River near Summerville on July 18.

The collision led to two adults and two juveniles being ejected from their vessel and transported to local hospitals. An adult female remains hospitalized from injuries sustained in this boating incident.

Careless operation of a vessel brings up to a $300 fine and 30 days in jail. Negligent injuring and failing to file official operators report carries up to a $500 fine and six months in jail for each offense.
