LDWF Agents Arrest Subject for DWI on the Water following Boating Incident

Baton Rouge, Aug 12, 2026 - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents arrested an Addis man on July 14 for alleged boating violations in Iberville Parish.

Agents arrested Charles B. Day Jr., 52, for operating or driving a vessel while impaired (DWI), careless operation, operating a boat without boat numbers, failing to possess a vessel registration, improper running lights and failing to comply with personal flotation device (PFD) requirements.

Agents started the investigation after responding to a boating incident on Bayou Plaquemine on April 30 around 2:15 a.m. Agents learned that Day Jr. was operating a vessel without any passengers when he struck a tree floating in Bayou Plaquemine.

During the investigation, agents found that Day Jr. was operating the vessel while impaired at a high rate of speed without running lights or boat numbers at night. Agents booked Day Jr. into the Iberville Parish Jail.

DWI brings a $300 to $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Careless operation of a vessel brings up to a $300 fine and 30 days in jail. Operating a vessel with improper running lights or boat numbers, failing to possess a vessel registration and failing to comply with PFD requirements carries up to a $50 fine for each offense.
