The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) will launch an auction for an exclusive black bear hunting experience for the 2025 black bear season. Proceeds from the auction will directly support black bear research and help LAWFF fund critical studies and conservation efforts carried out by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF). The auction opens at 9 p.m. CT. on Oct. 9, 2025 and closes on Oct. 16, 2025 at noon.
This rare and historic opportunity will take place on private land in one of Louisiana’s premier hunting destinations (Black Bear Management Area Four). The winner of the auction will experience a three-day guided hunt with accommodations for two nights at Palmetto Lodge. All meals are provided. The hunt was generously donated by a landowner who was a successful lottery winner.
In May 2016, black bears were removed from a list of threatened species due to management and conservation strategies by LDWF. The LDWF continues to maintain a sustainable black bear population through research, habitat restoration, public education and population management.
More information and registration for the auction is located on the LAWFF website: www.lawff.org.
