The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in partnership with Jefferson Parish have scheduled a temporary closure of Bonnabel Boat Launch, a public access facility on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, for ramp improvements.
The launch will close beginning Tuesday, October 13 and is tentatively scheduled to reopen in February 2016.
Site improvements include replacement and extension of four concrete boat ramps, providing a safer and more enjoyable experience for boaters in the future.
Improvements are funded through the Wallop-Breaux Boating Access Program administered by LDWF and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Jefferson Parish is providing matching funds and continued maintenance of the facility upon completion.
During the temporary closure, boaters can access Lake Pontchartrain at Seabrook Boat Launch in New Orleans and at the Williams Boat Launch in Kenner.
