Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents arrested a subject for allegedly giving false identification information to a police officer on Jan. 30 in St. Bernard Parish.
Agents arrested Justin Wallgren, 27, of St. Bernard, for misrepresentation during issuance of a misdemeanor summons and booked him into the St. Bernard Parish Jail.
Agents were on patrol on Dec. 20, 2024 on the state oyster seed ground in Drum Bay when they approached an oyster vessel. Agents made contact with the captain, Leland Perez, 34, of St. Bernard, and his deckhand Wallgren.
During the compliance check, agents found Perez and Wallgren in possession of undersized oysters from a natural reef. Agents issued citations to Perez and the fake name that Wallgren gave to the agents.
Agents seized 10 sacks of oysters and returned them to the water.
After further investigation, agents learned that Wallgren supplied a fake name during the time of the stop.
Misrepresentation during issuance of a misdemeanor brings up to a $500 fine and six months in jail. Possessing undersized oysters from a natural reef carries up to a $350 fine.
Agents participating in this case are Corporal Shea Schexnaydre, Agent Dawson Gildig and Lt. Austin Landry.
