Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents cited a man for alleged hunting violations on the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area on Jan. 6 in Concordia Parish.
Agents cited Eddie Bordelon, 60, of Cottonport, for possession of a spotted fawn, fail to comply with deer tagging regulations, intentional concealment of game and possession of an open alcoholic container in a vehicle.
Agents conducted a license and game check on Bordelon on the Richard K. Yancey WMA when they observed an open alcoholic container in the cup holder of his vehicle. Agents asked Bordelon if he had killed anything to which he advised that he did not.
While speaking to Bordelon, agents observed the lid to the ice chest in the back of the truck partially open with a freshly harvested spotted fawn inside.
Agents seized the spotted fawn and a 45-70 rifle that was used to shoot the deer.
Possessing a spotted fawn brings a fine of $500 to $750 and 15 to 30 days in jail. Intentional concealment of illegal game carries a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Failing to comply with deer tagging regulations brings a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail.
Bordelon may also face civil restitution of $1,624.61 for the illegally taken spotted fawn.
