A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent was honored at the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission meeting this morning, Sept. 3, in Baton Rouge.
Corporal Josh Laviolette, of New Orleans, was recognized as this year’s National Association of State Boating Law Administrator’s “Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” award for Louisiana.
Corporal Laviolette has been an agent for over four years and mainly patrols the waterways in southeastern Louisiana. He is a homemade boat inspector, boat accident reconstructionist, tactical boat operator. He also has led Louisiana in the number of boating safety cases.
“Corporal Laviolette has a tenacious work ethic and is very knowledgeable in boating safety laws,” said Capt. Clay Marques, who presented the award. “He’s a major asset to the department and more specifically to the safe boating mission. He maintains a professional work demeanor, appearance and personal commitment to the public’s safe boating practices.”
