Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents arrested a Simsboro man for alleged drug and deer hunting violations on June 9 in Lincoln Parish.

Agents arrested David N. Hudec, 69, for hunting deer during illegal hours, hunting deer during a closed season and cultivation of marijuana.

Agents responded to a complaint about a man killing a deer at night during a closed season near Simsboro in May of 2020.  Agents investigated the complaint and were able to determine that Hudec harvested a spike deer on his property at night out of season.  While interviewing Hudec at his property, agents also noticed the smell of marijuana and found 93 potted marijuana plants on Hudec’s property.

LDWF agents with the assistance of the Louisiana State Police arrested Hudec and booked him into the Lincoln Parish Correctional Facility.  Agents seized the marijuana plants, deer meat and a .22 caliber pistol.

Cultivation of marijuana brings up to a $50,000 fine and one to 20 years in jail.  Hunting deer during illegal hours and during a closed season carries a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.  Hudec may also face civil restitution totaling $1,624 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
