Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a subject for an alleged shrimping violation on Sept. 29 in Cameron Parish.

Agents cited Michael Le, 63, of Palacios, Texas, for taking commercial fish without a vessel license.

Agents were on patrol in the Gulf of America when they found Le on a vessel actively shrimping. During a license inspection, agents learned that Le did not possess a vessel license.

Agents seized 5,000 pounds of shrimp and sold them at the dock to the highest bidder.

Taking commercial fish without a vessel license brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.

Agents participating in the case are Sgt. Michael Hebert, Sgt. Carl Pickett, Sgt. Steve Vidrine, Sgt. Buddy Murray, Corporal Jason Stagg and Agent David Williams.
