LDWF Agents Cite Two Subjects for Fishing Violations in LaSalle Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents cited two subjects on Aug. 2 for alleged fishing violations in LaSalle Parish.
Agents cited Donald Chevallier, 64, and Glenda M. Barron, 56, both of Jena, for using lead nets in other than overflow regions and taking game fish illegally.
Agents received a complaint that hoop nets were being left on Little River near French Fork with dead fish in them. Agents responded to the scene and found that two of the hoop nets had lead nets attached. It is illegal to fish nets containing a lead net in other than an overflow area.
On the night of Aug. 1, agents determined that the two subjects in a vessel ran the hoop net with the attached lead that was previously documented. The following day agents made contact with the two subjects at their residence.
Agents found that the subjects kept 33 crappie from the nets. It is illegal to keep game fish that are caught in a hoop net. Agents seized the crappie and donated them to a local charity.
Using lead nets in other than overflow regions and taking game fish illegally brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
