Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited 69 subjects for alleged dove hunting violations on the opening weekend of the 2023-24 dove hunting season.
In Webster Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Corey L. Colvin, 35, of Cotton Valley, David W. Booth, 52, of Sibley, Lauren Echols, 27, of Benton, and Richard C. Echols, 36, of Elm Grove, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Colvin was also cited aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over bait. Booth was also cited for hunting without a basic hunting license. Agents seized 37 doves in connection with this case.
Also in Webster Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited David A. Lewis, 41, of Minden, and Robert A. Davis, 36, of Minden, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Lewis was also cited for aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over bait. Agents seized five doves in connection with this case.
In Ouachita Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Derek Fife, 32, of Monroe, and Neal Robertson, 45, of Calhoun, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area and aiding and abetting others in hunting migratory game birds over bait. Agents seized two doves in connection with this case.
In Union Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited James Leggett, 40, of Farmerville, and David Thomas, 39, of Choudrant, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Leggett for hunting migratory game birds with an unplugged gun and Thomas for placing bait to take migratory game birds and aiding and abetting others in hunting migratory game birds over bait. Agents seized one dove in connection with this case.
In West Carroll Parish on Sept. 4, agents cited Allen Lebrun, 31, of Oak Grove, and Michael A Cook, 61, of Bastrop, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Lebrun for placing bait for hunting migratory game birds.
In Catahoula Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Michael Branton, 57, of Pineville, for hunting over a baited area and aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized 119 doves in connection with this case.
Also in Catahoula Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Henry B. Wilbanks Jr., 77, of Columbia, and Anderson Reeves, 18, of Natchitoches, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Stephen H. Crawford, 78, of Clayton, for aiding and abetting others in hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized four doves in connection with this case.
In Concordia Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Kenneth Ensminger, 82, of Vidalia, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area and placing bait to hunt migratory game birds. Agents seized nine doves in connection with this case.
Also in Concordia Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Chelsea David, 28, of Baton Rouge, Logan Burton, 27, of Baton Rouge, Brandon Wilkins, 36, of Denham Springs, and Charles Wilkins, 63, of Denham Springs, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. David was also cited for taking non-game birds during a no season and hunting without a hunting license. Agents seized eight doves in connection with this case.
In Grant Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited John D. Johnson, 21, of Atlanta, and Aydan B. Jackson, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Johnson was also cited for aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized 48 doves in connection with this case.
Also in Grant Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Charles Moreau, 41, of Pollock, and Josh Moreau, 39 of Pollock, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area and aiding and abetting others in hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Charles Moreau was also cited for hunting migratory game birds with an unplugged gun. Agents seized nine doves in connection with this case.
In Rapides Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Wayne Hines, 72, of Deville, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited field. Agents seized 61 doves in connection with this case.
In Rapides Parish on Sept. 3, agents cited Paul West, 47, of Deville, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Morgan West, 38, of Deville, for aiding and abetting others in hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized four doves in connection with this case.
In Pointe Coupee Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Brody B. Bush, 18, of Fordoche, Mark D. Guidroz, 47, of Fordoche, Bryan J. Moreau, 48, of Rosedale, Ty M. Guidroz, 19, of Fordoche, William M. Parks Jr., 55, of Livonia, and Kevin B. Bush, 51, of Fordoche, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized 22 doves in connection with this case.
Also in Pointe Coupee Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited David B. Dupont, 62, of Washington, and Peter Bienvenu, 61, of Broussard, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Dupont was also cited for hunting without a resident hunting license. Agents seized 15 doves in connection with this case.
In Iberia Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Douglas L. Bienvenu, 60, of New Iberia, Dylan J. Bienvenu, 31, of Baton Rouge, and Dwight P. Doucet, 59, of Scott, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Douglas Bienvenu was also cited for placing bait to hunt migratory game birds. Agents seized 13 doves in connection with this case.
In St. Landry Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Carroll C. Meche Jr., 24, of Opelousas, and Beaux C. Guidroz, 26, of Opelousas, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area and placing bait to hunt migratory game birds. Agents seized one dove in connection with this case.
In Calcasieu Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Nicholas Reed, 22, of Iowa, Blaise Theriot, 22, of Lake Charles, and Collin Rozas, 20, of Iowa, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Theriot was also cited for aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over a baited area, placing bait to take migratory game birds and hunting migratory game birds with an unplugged gun. Agents seized 12 doves in connection with this case.
In Vermillion Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Toby J. Vinet, 58, of Delcambre, Barry L. LeBlanc, 53, of Abbeville, and Randall L. Mendoza, 66, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Vinet for aiding and abetting and LeBlanc for placing bait to take migratory game birds. Agents seized 16 doves in association with this case.
In West Feliciana Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Benjamin Ellis, 35, of Angola, Dalton Schilling, 25, of Angola, Christy Collier, 36, of St. Francisville, and Lyvie Barr, 18, of Angola, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Ellis for placing bait to hunt migratory game birds. Agents seized 45 doves in connection with this case.
In Tangipahoa Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Daniel Laciura, 38, of Osyka, Miss., Andrew Lay, 62, of Terry, Miss., Andrew Clarke, 22, of Prairieville, Matthew Konzelman, 22, of Kentwood, Mark Konzelman, 38, of Osyka, Miss., Christopher Bracey, 39, of Tylertown, Miss., David Sturdivant, 53, of Franklinton, Bailey Sutton, 25, of Kentwood, Thomas D. Stubbs, 39, of Raymond, Miss., Charles E. Laird, 58, of Ethel, Mason A. Myers, 23, of Raymond, Miss., Phillip A. Laciura Jr., 67, of Osyka, Miss., Brendan J. Travis, 27, of Kentwood, Ashton M. Sutton, 22, of Hammond, Briggs E. Rigby, 22, of Baton Rouge, and Matthew Myers, 34, of Kentwood, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Daniel Laciura, Mason Myers and Philip Laciura for hunting without an out of state hunting license. Mark Konzelman was also cited for hunting migratory game birds with an unplugged gun. Matthew Myers was also cited for placing bait to hunt migratory game birds and aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized 169 doves in connection with this case.
Also in Tangipahoa Parish on Sept. 2, agents cited Wilbert P. Anthony Jr., 33, of Hammond, and Hunter Malnar, 48, of Tickfaw, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents also cited Malnar for placing bait to hunt migratory game birds and aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over a baited area. Agents seized 27 doves in connection with this case.
All migratory game bird baiting cases are filed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution in Federal Court.
