The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division taught boating patrol courses to the Louisiana State Police (LSP) troopers in Grand Isle from July 21-25.
LDWF Special Operation Group (SOG) agents conducted the Introduction to Boat Operation and Search and Rescue courses for the LSP Mobile Field Force (MFF) troopers.
During this training, 16 LSP troopers were certified in various aspects of marine operations including but not limited to basic boat operation, trailering and launching, search and rescue techniques, pursuit and stop procedures and chart plotting and navigation.
“This training reflects the strong collaboration between us and state police as we maintain preparedness for safe and effective marine patrols,” said Col. Stephen Clark, head of the LDWF Enforcement Division. “By equipping troopers with critical boating skills, we’re enhancing our ability to respond to emergencies and protect the public on Louisiana’s waterways.”
This partnership strengthens interagency readiness and ensures Louisiana’s law enforcement officers are equipped to operate safely and effectively on the water. LDWF and LSP continue to carry out Governor Landry’s mission to strengthen communication and cooperation between state agencies in order to better protect and serve the people of Louisiana.
