The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) passed two amendments to notices of intent (NOI) for the 2026-27 hunting regulations during its March meeting Wednesday (March 4) in Baton Rouge.
The amendments would set shooting hours for the special black-bellied whistling duck season in October from sunrise to sunset and would prohibit charter boat fishing captains from keeping their limits on Wildlife Management Area (WMA) guided expeditions.
At its January meeting the commission passed NOIs for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 hunting seasons, 2026-27 general and WMAs hunting seasons and rules and regulations, 2027 general and WMA turkey hunting season and rules and regulations, and 2026-27 migratory bird hunting season and rules and.
LDWF will hold a public meeting April 21 on amendments to the NOI from 10 a.m.-noon in Baton Rouge at LDWF Headquarters.
