The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) passed several amendments to notices of intent (NOI) for the 2026-27 hunting regulations during its monthly meeting Thursday (Feb. 5) in Baton Rouge.

The amendments include updated language for drone use for the recovery of mortally wounded deer or bear, internal combustion engine restrictions on a select few Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) WMAs that includes no use from noon until 4 a.m., among other changes.

At its January meeting the commission passed NOIs for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 hunting seasons, 2026-27 general and Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) hunting seasons and rules and regulations, 2027 general and WMA turkey hunting season and rules and regulations, and 2026-27 migratory bird hunting season and rules and.

Public comment will be accepted through 4 p.m. on March 6, 2026. It will also be accepted at LWFC monthly meetings through March 5, 2026.
