The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed the main road at Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area (WMA) from Millhaven exit to Ruby Road due to interior road flooding.
Increasing water levels in Bayou Lafourche Canal have created backwater flooding on the road. This closure is deemed necessary to ensure safety and prevent road damage. Once the water recedes, LDWF will inspect, repair and reopen the road when deemed safe for travel.
Russell Sage WMA consists of 38,213 acres in Ouachita Parish and is located about seven miles east of Monroe and 10 miles west of Rayville. For more information, go to http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/2777 .
